How We’d Spec Out a 2022 Aston Martin Vantage

Now if we had the money we’d probably go to the Aston Martin of Minneapolis and ask for a salesman to help us spec one out ourselves. But until our paycheck hits, we’d probably do nothing but waste Mr. Car Salesman’s time and get our team kicked out and blacklisted in the process. So, using the Aston Martin Web Configurator will have to do, plus I don’t have to get security called on me or have to wear pants while I write this… a win win.

Let’s lay the ground rules first. Well, really, there’s only one. I don’t have a budget. This is our dream spec, so why restrain ourselves with something that’s simply a figment of our imagination… I’m sorry to all the finance majors who cringed at that statement.

The Exterior

To start off we chose the most complete version of the Vantage yet. The V12 Vantage Coupe features a 5.2 L V12 that sings the performance tune of around 690 horsepower and will rocket our creation to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. If we’re spending all this change for an Aston, it better be English proper. To lay on top we had to go with Buckinghamshire Green. To match with the green inlay of the Aston logo of course. Black out all the trim and now we get a very menacing looking British monster. That would make it the second most scary British monster… the Loch Ness is still unmatched.

Adding a carbon fiber roof and hood make the 3,960 lb curb weight seem a little bit lighter. In the modern world, staying under 4,000 lbs is impressive… shaving even more weight is downright dangerous. We kept the wing, partly because it simply looks badass, but also because it serves a true purpose. Aston Martin says that it can create up to 450 lbs of downforce, something we might be needing at our figures. Also, as an addendum, we had to make the brake calipers red, because after all red is the color of speed.

The Interior

Speaking of red, nothing says luxury like a red and black interior. As cliche as it might be we don’t think we’d like any color as iconic as the ‘Spicy Red’ colorway we chose. Opting for the sport bucket seats with the carbon fiber plate, we traded comfort for weight savings. To top off the interior colors we got unique red seatbelts… well they USED to be unique, now every car from McLarens to Toyotas have them. A carbon fiber and alcantara steering wheel pull it all together with the addition of carbon fiber trim scattered around.

While we’d love to hit the order button, that probably won’t happen anytime soon, so for the time being this is as close as we’re going to get to this British beauty.
