This Week’s Auction Find: 2001 Audi S4 Avant

As an avid fan of station wagons and hatchbacks, and as someone who loves to get lost in the deep world of auto auctions because I usually have nothing better to do, this 2001 Audi S4 Avant just feels like the perfect pick to go on this week’s MPH Auction Block. This clean German wagon is up for bidding now on BringATrailer with no reserve.

The S4 is finished in a gorgeous Nogaro Blue (one of my favorite colors) and iconic on Audi wagons of this era. With the arrival of the Audi RS6 Avant a couple years ago on American shores, the Audi S4 Avant joined a heralded lineup of past and present high performance European station wagons that have made it to the United States. A number which I can count on my fingers. A six-speed manual transaxle attached to a 2.7 L turbocharged V6 that spews out 265 horsepower stock plays right into the role of being in such a unique car such as this one.

The 2001 S4 Avant was the 1st generation of the wagon, with 1997 being its first model year in the United States. Dubbed the B5 generation, the S4 Avant went through 3 generations total and ending its run in 2008 here in the States. Similar B5 S4 wagons have gone for a wide range of prices, ranging from $11,000 up to $30,000 for well-kept examples. This wagon also carries over its Nogaro Blue exterior to its insides with blue bucket seats and the optioned leather steering wheel.

This car also features multiple modifications such as an aftermarket exhaust, a boost gauge, and 3rd party coilovers. All tasteful mods that enhance the experience of driving such a dashing vehicle. Sorry, that was the wagon fan in me coming out.

The auction ends on June 20th, 2022, and no matter what price the owner pays, they’ll be getting one of my favorite vehicles of all time. A perfect blend of practicality and track-ready, good luck finding that in other cars.
